Daedo Sikdang first opened in 1964 near a butcher shop in Ma-Jang-Dong. Since the beginning they worked diligently to serve only the best quality Han-Woo (Korean) ribeye.
Daedo’s prestige was acknowledged in Louis Vuitton City Guide, Asahi TV, CNN, Tvn and
many other media sources . In 2017, the city of Seoul has deemed the restaurant as part of
“Seoul Future Heritage”. There are 5 different locations within South Korea and in a year serve over 650,00 servings of the best ribeye.
The challenge was to highlight show the core elements that make Daedo Sikdang special which meant working with fresh meat and onset grilling. We had to work with the quickly oxidizing fresh cut meat that would change color continuously and be able to capture the grill cooking the meat to perfection. The cast iron grill is extremely hot and retains heat very well that all production had to very quick and precise.
Our goal with this project was showcase the Daedo Sikdang as a modern and hip restaurant brand. With a long standing history in South Korea, they made their first overseas location in the United States so it was crucial for this video to be able to capture the attention of the US market.
Using professional models and also incorporation of fast pace transitions, we wanted to create a product that is both appealing to the eyes and interesting. The upbeat music adds more color to the appetizing food and modern + elegant interior that was captured.
